Joe Refano

Joe Refano has been playing music since he had a clarinet in his hands as a small child. When the Beatles arrived in America in February of '64, the then 11 year old boy took up the drums. He had the ultimate thrill of seeing them live at Shea Stadium in 1966. In 1967 he started fooling with the bass guitar and later his dad's 6 string. He's been at it ever since.

Joe has played with Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone on and off for several years. He also spent a year playing with Micky Dolenz formerly of the Monkees and a host of other popular local bands including No Soap in the 70's and 80's and The Denice Given Band in the 90's amongst others.

His life long interest in the Beatles led him to form The Liverpool Shuffle in 2003.

"It's been a great challenge to try and present this music in an authentic and recognizable way...to capture the sound, the energy and the enthusiasm that The Beatles brought to their music. We try to re-create the music by playing it the best we can. With energy and passion...just the four of us...no tricks...no tracks...no sound effects. That's why on some of the numbers Mike plays the keyboards and I'll switch to bass. We play everything LIVE and we do what we can to make it happen LIVE. All of us hope you'll feel as good listening as we do performing the show."
